The interest in wine in our company has increased over the few past years.

This is no longer a matter for professionals: the increasing knowledge by all of us is clear. Made in Italy excellence, curiosity and small daily pleasure, inspires study and research. Indeed it has often become the subject of conversation and comparison between experts and non-experts.

Social media, magazines and books, television programs and live streaming, courses and tastings help and invite to talk this path: the endless search for the perfect pairing, the taste for choosing and sharing, the curiosity to know more.

It is now popular the desire of having, in the cellar, its own private reserve, with our favorite wines, organized professionally.

How to reach the perfect result and how to store wines in the most proper way? Let’s remember wine is a living matter, and it should be treated as such: so, at the moment of tasting, it will reward us for all focused attention to it.

There are wines suited for aging, even dedicated for waiting patiently, and others that should be drunk in their youth. It is preferable to consume semi-sparkling wines within one year from their bottling in order to taste them during the period in which their organoleptic characteristics remain unchanged. It is also necessary to store the bottles upright, in the dark and at a constant, cool temperature. A good storage of wine, besides keeping unaltered the taste and aromas of wine, will ensure an excellent management of the bubble at the moment of opening.

It is a good idea to store sparkling wines in the dark, and in a place – such as a cellar – with high humidity. Also in this case, the upright positioning will prove to be an excellent solution. We recommend to consume a sparkling wine within 18 months and do not let it age too much in order not to risk to change its organoleptic characteristics.

Wines suitable for aging need different cares. Bottles will always need to be stored at cool and constant temperature and in a dark place, but in a horizontal position in order to allow the wine to be always in contact with the cork, keeping it moist and preventing it from drying out, with the consequent possibility of breaking and being contaminated by external agents.

As heat tends to go upwards, it will be recommended to store white wines, which most require a lower temperature and more care in storing them, in the shelves of the cellar closer to the floor, and gradually going up with red wines.

We recommend not moving too much – better never – the wines stored up to the moment of opening, to prevent any residual decantation from mixing with the wine, with very unpleasant consequences.

The answer may surprise you: the ones you prefer. There are no rules, although common sense suggests varying types to allow multiple pairings with different dishes and on various occasions.

Of course, the imperative is to be curious. Travel – as soon as you can – and taste, try something new, take it home and make it part of our collection, to share it with others and savor it calmly.
